Week 46--May 8-14, 2016
May 8 - Mother's Day. Garnalee got many well wishes from family, friends, and many of the missionaries here in the Quezon City North Mission.
We helped to celebrate President Bertin's 65th birthday on Monday, May 9 (actual birthday is May 10 but they were off to Baliwag for Zone Interviews) with a sinfully rich chocolate cake we had purchased for the event.
We're published! Tom finally got around to sending the article in that President Bertin had asked him to write. As soon as the Blackfoot Morning News received it they published it. It must have been a slow news day.
On Tuesday, May 10, we were assigned to go to Montalban for Zone meeting. The jeepneys in this part of the country are brightly painted and highly decorated. They paint beautiful ladies, super heroes, cartoon characters, nudies. It is all according to the whim of the owner.
We had a fun time at the Zone meeting on Tuesday. That zone enjoys having fun as they do their accountability reporting.
On Wednesday Tom took a My Family: Stories That Bring Us Together booklet to our banker. He decided to OYM like Garnalee does. He took along the fan chart President Bertin made for our presentation months ago to show her what we do as a Church in family history.
Tom and Garnalee are working on getting the rent checks ready to out in a couple of weeks. We have printed all of the envelopes and have started working on the check vouchers and BIRs (tax form).
Saturday was the mission five year reunion day. The Phillippines Quezon City Mission was split in half in 2011 creating the Philippines Quezon City North Mission with each mission having 88 missionaries. President and Sister Sperry came from Salina, Utah for the event. 82 former missionaries traveled from all around the Philippines to attend the event, Two former missionaries traveled from the United States to attend the reunion. The one from Logan, Utah, won the prize for having traveled the farthest. Sister Cherry had fixed Sweet and Sour Chicken, rice, gravy, rotisserie chicken from SM Deli, and Chocolate Fudge Jumble Bars (voted the favorite dessert by missionaries). Sister Bertin decided to serve food which could be frozen and used for another event. There was plenty of food for all who attended and food leftover for a future event.
The banner that welcomed the attendees as they arrived at the Camarin Chapel.
Group photo of all who attended.
Looking at the picture albums was a favorite of the attendees.
Many pictures were taken in front of the wall that said "I love Philippines Quezon City North Mission.
Another favorite was the signing wall. Sister Canite waits to add her name to the wall.
